Welcoming the freshmen ahead, the College Student Council – School of Business and Accountancy (CSC-SBA) launched their annual general orientation entitled, “Dive In!”, in Saint Joseph Academic Hall, last June 9.

The event started thirty minutes earlier than anticipated, commencing with the opening remarks, followed by meeting the administration. However, the introduction of the SBA Dean, Dr. Carmelita Y. Lao, was postponed due to the time availability and advanced program time not coinciding.

Given this unprompted obstacle, the council settled with adjusting the program flow with the ensued time. “Inextend namin bale ‘yung ice breaker na tumagal naman ng isang oras,” the CSC Governor, Harvey Sanchez, stated. 

He also shared with the exception of this unexpected drawback, their eager preparations for the event went as planned by the team. Moreover, when asked about how they intend to make the orientation helpful for the freshmen, he talked about informing them of their ongoing plans and projects. “Meron kaming bridging program bukas na kung saan mas mabibigyan sila ng starter knowledge sa subject, [like] FunAcc.”

Through the introduction of the CSC-SBA, they were able to convey these plans to the freshmen in the orientation. After the lunch break, the presentation of other SBA organizations came along, with Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants and Auditors-United (JPIAA-U) kicking the afternoon session off, followed by the Management Society and The Enterprise respectively.

The deferred meeting with the SBA Dean was then set after the introductions of the aforementioned organizations, and the “Chikahan” session occurred not long after. 

Angelica Tulio, an incoming Accountancy student, shared her expectations for the upcoming school year, as well as how the orientation helped her to know more about the student groups under the SBA department. “Memorable po for me [in the orientation] nu’ng nagsosocialize po ‘yung mga seniors po with us.”

Few questions from the students were welcomed and entertained, as well, for the Q&A portion before the orientation finally concluded. The event ended with a greeting of good luck for all the freshmen in their first year of their college journey.
