Lupain ng School of Business and Accountancy (SBA) achieved an unprecedented feat after securing its fifth consecutive overall championship at the Holy Angel University (HAU) 93rd University Days celebration, held from January 28 to 31, 2026.

The milestone places SBA as the only department to secure five straight overall titles in the history of University Days, further cementing its reputation for sustained excellence across academic, cultural, and athletic events. 

In an online interview with SBA Governor Harvey Eroll Sanchez, he shared that the most challenging phase was the preparation period, which required extensive coordination across 32 events.

“Over the nearly 3 months journey of preparations, it was a consistent challenge. By that, it doesn’t always mean securing participants was enough—it required budgeting, alignment of schedules to cater practices and propsmaking, and unanticipated problems that would pop out of nowhere.”

The department established its early momentum even before the official opening of University Days after claiming the title in Youth Development Days. “With the YDD, where we secured the champion spot, we already had a strong start going into University Days,” the Governor added. 

Amid discussions surrounding the legitimacy of SBA’s fifth straight title, the council cited centralized tracking through customized Google Sheets and consistent coordination with designated point persons as transparency measures used to monitor progress and results.

Sanchez also expressed the pressure of defending a four-year streak. “Of course, there was a lingering pressure during every planning session, practice, and creation of each event’s needs…  Like everyone else in a competition, with a goal in mind, it pushed us to work harder to obtain it.”

An SBA participant from Mass and Street Dance competition further shared that the celebration drew high energy across departments due to sustained audience support.

“Umaapaw sa sigla ang bawat department sa loob at labas ng campus—not only during the actual days of University Days, but also noong pre-U-Days pa lamang, because of the competitiveness of the participants to represent their own departments.”

The interviewee also cited the demands of sustaining SBA’s winning streak, particularly amid limited preparation time while balancing academic requirements, admitting that it has become challenging for everyone to stay committed. 

“With the help and support of the council, from the start of preparation hanggang sa end ng U-Days event, mas na-enjoy namin ‘yung experience and mas nakapag-focus kami as participants na i-represent at ibigay ‘yung best para sa department namin.” the SBA student said.

Following Lupain ng SBA are Lupain ng School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) and Lupain ng Basic Education Department (BED), bagging the overall first and second runners-up, respectively.
