Business Management (BM) students held their first advocacy symposium, “Speak Up, Stand Up: The Right Steps to Your Rights”, on February 6, 2026 at the St. Joseph Hall (SJH) Building Academic Hall.

The symposium was organized as partial fulfillment of the course Project Management (PROJMA) under the supervision of Dr. Carmelita Lao, dean of the School of Business and Accountancy (SBA). BM 331 and 332 students spearheaded the event and served as attendees and supporting participants. 

The event featured discussions from Atty. Kris Dyan Cayabyab and Atty. Angeli Alysa Andan on women’s legal protections in schools and communities, including the Safe Spaces Act, Anti-Sexual Harassment Act, and RA 9262.

Ms. Laura Angela Capili, RSW, addressed reporting channels and support systems, while Lt. Col. Karen Clark focused on women’s empowerment and leadership. 

Furthermore, Khatelyn Rocha served as Project Head, with Jaimelyn Rodriguez as Assistant Project Head, jointly overseeing the planning and execution of the symposium.

According to Rocha, the advocacy was conceptualized in response to the lack of awareness among students and community members about women’s rights and proper channels for reporting harassment, discrimination, and abuse, despite existing laws and institutional mechanisms. 

“Reporting is not solely about punishment, but about protection, guidance, and creating safer environments for everyone,” she said.

The primary beneficiaries were Angelites, especially women, along with selected community members from Barangay Sto. Rosario and Barangay Pampang in Angeles City. 

The event ended with an open forum, allowing participants to raise questions and concerns to the resource speakers.
